2. Jomsom-Ghorapani - Pokhara

Day  1

Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (about 20 minutes) on an incredible flight path between Annapurna and Dhaulgiri peaks, landing in Jomsom on the Kali Gandaki River. Following lunch, walk south  along the river to Marpha, a traditional Thakali  village with narrow stone streets and flat roofed   houses (2 hours).

Day  2

Continue gradual downhill but long trekking day to Ghansa along the Kali Gandaki (5-6 hours).

Day  3

Continue downhill trek to Tatopani (means hot water) for the night and enjoy the natural hot springs near the river.

Day  4

Begin uphill climb from Tatopani to Sikha or  Chitre for the night. (5- hours)

Day  5
   Uphill to Ghorapani. (4-5 hours)
Day  6

Early morning 45-minute climb to Poon Hill (3,210 m) to catch the early sunrise on the peaks. Return to Ghorapani for breakfast and begin the 3-4 hour walk downhill through thick rhododendron forests to Ulleri, with  lunch on the way.

Day  7

Continue downhill walk to Naya Pul (New Bridge) and the main road and transport back to Pokhara.

This basic one week trek can be extended by trekking north from Jomsom to Kagbeni (1 extra night) or further to Muktinath (3 extra nights), or modified to reduce  the time and uphill climbs between Tatopani and Pokhara by taking the  route from Tatopani via Beni to Pokhara (subtract 2 nights).
